Windows 11 Compatibility Checker

A guided checklist for TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, UEFI, CPU, RAM and storage.

This tool reads no hardware: nothing is detected, scanned or uploaded. It simply applies Microsoft's published rules to the answers you give.

1

Does your PC have TPM 2.0 enabled?

Windows 11 requires a TPM 2.0 security chip. It stores encryption keys for BitLocker and Windows Hello.

Where to check: Press Windows+R, type tpm.msc and press Enter — the console reports the specification version.

2

Is Secure Boot supported and enabled?

Secure Boot blocks unsigned boot code. Windows 11 requires a Secure Boot capable firmware.

Where to check: Run msinfo32 and read the 'Secure Boot State' row. 'Unsupported' usually means the PC is in legacy BIOS mode.

3

Does the PC boot in UEFI mode (not legacy BIOS)?

Windows 11 must be installed on a UEFI system with a GPT disk. Legacy/CSM boot is not supported.

Where to check: Run msinfo32 and read 'BIOS Mode'. It should say UEFI.

4

Is your processor on Microsoft's supported CPU list (roughly Intel 8th gen / AMD Ryzen 2000 or newer)?

Microsoft only supports a published list of 64-bit processors with two or more cores at 1 GHz or faster.

Where to check: Run msinfo32 and read 'Processor', then compare it with Microsoft's supported-processor list.

5

Do you have at least 4 GB of RAM?

4 GB is the published minimum. 8 GB or more is far more comfortable in practice.

Where to check: Settings → System → About, or the 'Installed Physical Memory' row in msinfo32.

6

Is there at least 64 GB of storage on the system drive?

Windows 11 requires a 64 GB or larger storage device for installation and updates.

Where to check: Settings → System → Storage.

7

Is your graphics adapter DirectX 12 compatible with a WDDM 2.0 driver?

The Windows 11 desktop compositor needs DirectX 12 and a WDDM 2.0 display driver.

Where to check: Press Windows+R, type dxdiag, and read the Display tab.

8

Is the display at least 9 inches with 720p resolution or better?

Microsoft requires a high-definition (720p) display larger than 9 inches diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel.

Where to check: Settings → System → Display → Display resolution.

About this tool

A guided checklist for Microsoft's Windows 11 minimum requirements. You tell the tool what your PC has — we show you exactly where to find each value in Windows — and it explains what every requirement means and gives you a plain-English verdict. This tool cannot read your hardware: nothing is detected, scanned or uploaded. It simply applies Microsoft's published rules to the answers you give.

How to use the Windows 11 Compatibility Checker

  1. Open System Information (press Windows+R, type msinfo32) to read your BIOS mode, Secure Boot state and processor.
  2. Answer each question in the checklist: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, UEFI, CPU generation, RAM, storage, graphics and display.
  3. Read the explanation under each requirement to understand why Microsoft asks for it.
  4. Check the verdict at the end, which lists every requirement you have not met.
  5. If TPM or Secure Boot is off rather than missing, enable it in your BIOS/UEFI and answer again.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool detect my hardware?
No. It cannot see your PC. You self-report each value and the tool applies Microsoft's published requirements to your answers. We tell you where to find each value in Windows.
How do I check whether I have TPM 2.0?
Press Windows+R, type tpm.msc and press Enter. The management console shows whether a TPM is present and which specification version it reports.
My CPU is not on Microsoft's supported list. What now?
Windows 11 will usually refuse to install through Windows Update. Microsoft's supported-processor lists are the authority, and installing on unsupported hardware is unsupported by Microsoft.
Is Windows 10 still an option?
Yes, and we stock Windows 10 Pro licences for machines that cannot meet the Windows 11 requirements.
